Runner's Abs

Folks, I said before, and I’ll say it again, you need to strengthen your abs and the rest of your core if you want to feel good about your running efforts. It is true what the trainers say, your core is the first thing to become tired, and when it does, your form goes to hell. Before you know it, you are bending over when you shouldn’t, your stride shortens, you can’t get your breath, and you are 20 minutes slower to you marathon finish and you freak out your wife. Okay, so maybe that was too much person information. Let’s just say, “I’ve been there.”
BONUS: Strong abs are sexy. It helps you training efforts and looks good. That’s a pretty good incentive to work on your abs.
The good folks at Runner’s World have put together a set of abdominal exercises that should get you well on your way to looking like Lolo Jones. And if you can get your abs to look like Lolo Jones, send me a picture and I’ll post it to this site. Wowza!
