Heart Healthy: Calcium Is Good For Your Heart

You all may remember the Danish study that noted how an increase in the consumption of low fat dairy products leads to less fat being absorbed in the body. (Check out http://blog.wide-body.com/2008/08/11/hooray-for-dairy.aspx )Essentially, if you regularly drink skim milk with a meal, less of the fat from the cheeseburger you eat will be absorbed in your body than if you didn’t drink milk. The theory was that calcium in the dairy products acted as a binding agent with the fat, preventing it from being absorbed and whisking the fat through your system.
What is that calcium could do the same thing for cholesterol?
It turns out that new study is connecting calcium along with vitamin D as being a potent duo in the fight against cholesterol. Why is that? The same reason the calcium was found to bind and remove fat from your system, another side effect of removing that fat is lowering of your LDL cholesterol.
You folks may have also seen how Vitamin D can help you maintain your youth an vigor.
