Manage Your Blood Sugar With Chamomile Tea

I've already posted other articles that give details on how you can regulate your blood sugar with broccoli and cinnamon. Here is a new study suggesting that blood sugar can be regulated with chamomile tea.

In recent animal studies, it was shown that chamomile extract kept blood sugars at an even keel and protected the body from an enzyme, sucrase, which is involved in diabetes complications. More studies are needed on human subjects, though these initial tests are promising.

We know that chamomile tea can help relax those folks who are anxious and create feelings of drowsiness in insomniacs. Stress from anxiety and lack of sleep from insomnia can lead to a further release of the stress hormone cortisol. Cortisol served an important role in ancient man as it was part of the fight or flight reflex. Cortisol reserves energy in the form of fat, something the modern man doesn’t necessarily need today. Cortisol also stimulates the appetite, another survival mechanism. For folks who are hyperglycemic or diabetic, additional fat across the mid-section of the body endangers their help by putting additional stress on the heart. Now the pancreas and the heart are working double duty trying to keep the body functioning. If you believe the body is built so that all of the organs are meant to work in balance with each other, occasionally picking of the slack of one in times of stress, you can see how a system were two overly taxed organs will begin to pull down other organs. It isn’t unusual to see diabetics form other health problems over time, especially in the kidneys.

So why do I bring this up? Even though the studies of chamomile and its effects on blood sugar in humans is not complete, I believe it would still behoove the diabetic or the hyperglycemic to drink more chamomile tea and help reduce the chances of other health factors.

    Hello,
All those holiday leftovers and New Year’s party plates can do a real number on your blood sugar. But here’s a drink that may help fix that: chamomile tea.

There just might be something in chamomile that not only helps keep blood sugar stable but also guards against the damage high blood sugar can do.
