Review of Rain Jackets

Bicycling Mag has completed a review of cycling rain jackets

If you have a review of one of these jackets, or one that you prefer and you think other wide-bodies would enjoy wearing, please drop me a line at wide-body@wide-body.com

Sombrio Lush
MSRP: $150

Sombrio's Lush women's jacket has a semifitted but stretchy nylon shell with a DWR coating to help keep you dry; mesh underarm panels vent heat and moisture. Soft faux-leather zipper tabs give you one-handed access to the jacket's three pockets, and fancy details like the gathered chest and silky wrist openings will have you sporting the Lush off the trail as well.

Gore Oxygen
MSRP: $170

Made of Gore's patented PacLite Shell fabric, the Oxygen folds to about the size of an inner tube and weighs roughly the same as a couple of energy bars, so it's easily stowed in a jersey pocket.
WIDE-BODY ALERT!!!!The Oxygen fits best on whippet-thin road riders (some may need to go up one size).
That drives me nuts.

Descente Bobby J
MSRP: $200

This lightweight jacket is one of the best we've tried. Its eVent fabric (a competitor to Gore-Tex) is waterproof, so you'll stay dry in the worst squall. It's also highly breathable, so the J doubles as a great windbreaker when conditions are cold but dry.

Showers Pass Double Century
MSRP: $120

Many rain jackets don't keep you warm, just dry, but the Double Century does both. Its seam-sealed construction and two-layer rip-stop material repel raindrops, and its seven ventilation points make it highly breathable. We also liked the comfortable, tall microchamois collar and the airflow-regulating cuffs.
