When training, choose your battles wisely
This is a good common sense article from Running Times magazine: http://runningtimes.com/Article.aspx?ArticleID=14325
Basically stated, don't lose site of why your training calendar is set up the way it is. The days you have hard days, train hard. The days you have light days, train light. There is a good reason for this, and if you train hard on a light day, you won't recover like you are supposed to, and thus you will screw up the next hard day. So not only did you waste one day, but potentially several.
Stay smart, stay focused, and you'll stay healthy.
