I'm going to VEGAS, BABY!!

It's official, the Wide-Body is running the Las Vegas Marathon. Grandma agreed to watch the kids (thanks, Mom!) and I am registered for the race. Frankly, I'm really psyched up for this. I had a blast last year at this event and I look forward to doing it again.
Next up, hotel rooms. Last year, the event established had incredible rates ($69 per night) at the Mandalay Bay and later at the MGM. Right now, rates are $186 per night. Knowing that hotel occupancy in Vegas has been down, I'm going to wait a little bit before I book a hotel and see if I can get a better rate. We'll see. I may end up screwing myself. Oh well.

Congratulations...now the training begins! So are you shooting for a completion time (too me just finishing would be an accomplishment - - 10 is my max without wheels)? A friend of mine trains with the new Garmin GPS fitness trainer and says it like having a personal coach next to you and keeps track of everything - you may want to try it.

4:30 continues to be my goal, though I may be a little slower this time. Can I really predict that far out? Why yes, I can.
Seriously, I am going out in to the market place and will try to find the lightest digital camera that is still quality, and carry that with me during the race. There are cool things to see along the race, yet if you don't run the race, you'll miss them. My goal is to take pictures along the way so you can see what I saw. Should be cool for you to see, but a slow time for me.
